course information

QGIS is a powerful, cross-platform, free and open-source desktop GIS package. This one-day hands-on express training course provides participants with an introduction to the fundamentals of GIS in a local government context. Participants will learn how to import and visualise spatial data from a number of different formats and compose printable maps.

The training course will leverage Australian data and use cases in conjunction with the latest census data to provide rich visualisations that will assist in asset management, planning and community engagement through the use of maps. Come and see why many organisations are making the move to QGIS as a replacement for other more expensive desktop GIS packages.

No previous experience with GIS software is required, although experience with using Microsoft Windows is essential.
